Crop and Job Costing Module

The Job Costing/Crop Costing subsystem is designed to provide detailed accounting for areas of activity which have many revenue and cost center components, without burdening the general ledger with hundreds or thousands of additional account numbers (which would be needed to accomplish the same purpose). Because the balance sheet accounts do not normally require such detailed breakdown, we believe we offer a more efficient general ledger by putting the cost accounting activity into its own subsystem.

In addition, we find that the financial reporting format of the general ledger differs significantly from the cost center approach of cost accounting activity -- so a dual system gives you the best of both worlds.

All functions which generate financial data are fully integrated with our General Ledger system. These functions include:

Job costing also interacts with other subsystems where the other system is the originating source of transactions. These cases are:

The job cost coding structure consists of two main components:

The "job" describes the physical attributes of the cost center. The job number consists of 1 to 9 sub-components which cannot exceed fourteen (14) characters in length for all 9 components.

The system provides a series of setup tables where you define the composition code definition and description definition of the job & categories.

The system also provides a special program tool which helps you build all of the valid combinations of job codes and category codes.
